Sweetheart 7/17/10
Story by Mike McNamara

Well here we are at our original Sweetheart location, the one where it all started 5 years ago in 2006 on Lake Massabesic. What a hot day it turned out to be. But that did not deter any of the fun and smiles that we see at each Sweetheart event. We had a number of sweetheart teams arrive to play today where everyone today was a winner, bearing the heat and the tough bite. Its all about family, and fun, no pressure just pleasure. We had some that have come each year to a new father and son team. His son thought it was like winning megabucks fishing with his dad at this event. That is what this is all about...

Midweek 7/14/10
Story by Mike McNamara

Well doesn’t anyone work anymore?? We had 36 players willing to brave the elements (per a bad weather persons prediction) but fortunately we only got a light drizzle followed by some warm warm weather on a day where it was a tough bite as you will see from the weights. It was not your typical weights for such a fishery...

Draw 7/10/10
Story by Mike McNamara

Well we had 22 players come to the game for our third draw of the 2010 season on Massabesic. All were searching and yes finding those big green fish with only 12 smallmouth coming to the scale. Mike Day took the smallmouth lunker award with a whopping 2.27 smallface. Good Job...

Midweek 6/23/10
Story by Mike McNamara

Well Newfound, here we are on an overcast day. Weatherman is wrong once again. It’s all right though. Everybody was staged for a great day, to find that it was a tough bite for big fish. The majority of the fish in general were caught post-spawn with very very very few left bedding. We had 34 players..

Team Event 5/02/10
Story by Mike McNamara

Well we kicked off our second New Hampshire Bass Casters “Cast Your Dreams” Team event on Bow Lake.  A question to everyone, why do they call in Bow Lake, when it isn’t in Bow?  You can’t get there from here, a (Maine kinda spin).

We had a good turnout, 13 teams, and we were greeted with a very light drizzle. Thought for sure the weatherman was going to be off base,  but by 11:30 we were all in shorts, sandals,  catching a tan and fish.  Lots of fish...

The First New Hampshire Bass Casters Draw Event goes off without a hitch.

Our first New Hampshire Bass Casters Draw trail has now come and gone and what a great turnout we had.  Thanks to all that showed up and thank you to Dave Tsao, our tournament director, and all the volunteers that helped to put that show on. A special thank you to Katie Jo McNamara and Mike Spurr for taking photos. And always without doubt we thank all those that volunteered to put this event on. It seemed pretty seamless...

It was nice to see the change in colors and what a wonderful view it was of snow covered mountain tops against brilliant fall colors. It was nice to be the only leaf peepers out there.

Midweek 9/30/09
Story by Mike McNamara

The weather man said breezy, well why don’t they just say what it is - its going to blow and stay home?? J   Oh well.  We had some excitement at the start of our day with a few mishaps at the ramp, it looked like a bunch of brain surgeons on the dock but oh boy, they engineered out the problem.  You would think that we would learn from our mistakes, but oh nooo we are just dumb fisherman. So it happened again and again...

Midweek 9/16/09
Story by Mike McNamara

Its’ official, its fall.  So I came am in early because I didn’t do very well, crap, I didn’t catch a damn thing. Weatherman lied again, wind was only going to be 6 to 10 out of the north, well it was out of the north at 20+ most of the day.  As I finished setting up the weigh in equipment  I look out and the lake is laying down, just a little to late for me.

Story by Mike McNamara

This week our Midweek  starts out on Golden pond where old friends gather.  We were welcomed by a very brisk morning and a stunning sunrise.  As the day goes on, our resident pro, Peter Weeks, Peter (Skeet) Weeks schools us in the art of drop shotting.  A technique that brought him back to our winner’s circle...

Story by Mike McNamara

Good morning to everyone from our final sweetheart tournament.  It was a little muggy as we started the day with everyone being greeted by Beth and Greg and lots and lots of anticipation by everyone to catch those big fishes. As everyone was shuffling around putting their trailers away we saw lots of lots of helping hands..

Well the morning starts off just a little bit hectic, with me almost not making it.  Thank you to all those that are so quick to lend a hand, that is what keeps this trail running so well.  Greg and I are going to create a care package for his vehicle and Bobby’s vehicle just to be on the safe side in the future...

Midweek 8/05/09
Story by Mike McNamara

Today we got to go to one of our crown jewels of New Hampshire, Lake Ossippe, up in God’s country. It was a beautiful day, but we all know when you get up past a certain elevation you are much closer to the rain. We had a perfect seven hours of sunshine and warm breezes but come 2:30 all hell breaks loose and it pours and it blows and it pours and it blows...

Well our second Sweetheart Tournament of 2009 has come and gone and yes it has become our Yearly tournament on Massabesic, and as always the sweethearts were in rare form.  Sara and I were privy to a conversation at the ramp between Teresa and Mark Fournier while they were getting ready to put in, who ended up being our tournament winners...

So the day starts off a little on the cloudy side, and who knew we were going to be schooled.  But anyway I will get to the schooling later, but for now a great bunch of guys helping each other.  It’s absolutely wonderful., everyone helping each other dumping trailers, parking and the gyrations we have to go through to use this facility.  As the day ended we had the same great group help and take care of our fish.  Thank you to all those volunteers...

Sweetheart 6/27/09
Story by Mike McNamara

Well our first Sweetheart of 2009 and guess the theme of this event was the ladies take home the cash.  As the morning kicked off the smack was flying. Sweethearts gone bad. LOL   We were greeted to light winds and sun and did I say sun and tons of smallies just waiting to chew.

As the day winds on we got pummeled with...

6/24/09
Story by Mike McNamara

Well the morning started a little on the hectic side, to say the least, with everyone hyped up including me.  It was a little breezy with a light rain but all the children just wanted to catch those big smallies.  It was like Christmas with everyone just biting at the bit to get out there and maybe all a little spoiled with past events start-ups.  New year, new club, new formalities all take some getting used to when you are mentally psyched for catching that one big fish that will put you in the money.  Its been a long winter and no one wants to be hanging around waiting to get started.   Hugs and kisses....

It was our first Midweek for
New Hampshire Bass Casters

Story by Mike McNamara

Happy New Year.  And with that Mike Vining picks up just where he left off last year winning on Winni.  Well the morning was cool compared to the day’s past to say the least. Our long time friend Gerry Blanchette showed up just in time to draw our winner Mike and Gerry got to see it all.  Mike talks to catching his limit by 11 and on spinner baits.  Made a hard decision to trade in his spinner bait to go to a jerk bait.  Working that jerk bait for the rest of the day looking for that kicker fish. He actually found two kicker fish and guess what they weren’t green fish, they were smallies.  One at 4.87, yes our lunker smallmouth, and one just under that 4 pound.  Wild day.  The jerk bait paid off and who would have guessed that smalleis would have won this tournament.  I think I said this already, these big smallies are hard to come by and I know from seeing Gerry smile at the scale he was wowed.  Congrats Mike. Well done.  It was good to see you...

Mike Vining takes a win on Ossipee Midweek

Story by Mike McNamara

A middle of the road day, the real bad weather held off. The day was pretty wonderful considering we could have all been rained on pretty hard but we weren’t. Thank you to all that came along for the long haul and fun to see the group from the north again, Don, Scott, Travis and Kurt. We had a good turnout for such unsettled weather. Cant wait to be back there on Saturday

Coming in first place Mike Vining with 15.61, all green fish. Mike talked to culling by 9:30. He caught up to about 9 fish using tubes and jigs in 2 – 4 feet of water. Mike also had a nice kicker fish at 4.34. Nice seeing you, hope to see you soon

Second place went to Josh Lane with 15.23, 3 largemouth and 2 smallmouth and one of those smallmouth being the lunker of the day at 4.97. Josh talked to being in a school of smallies first thing in the morning and losing at least two more fish at least as big as his lunker. Looks like that Bubba had a pretty good morning. Josh had his limit at 10 am and never culled. Nothing was big enough.

John Wright spanks the field on Winnipesaukee

Story by Mike McNamara

What a day! Hot Hot Hot. It’s all about timing. Well sure enough our timing stunk. Just as we started our weigh in two inch rain drops just pummeled those that were waiting at the scale, but a little rain never stops a true fisherman, so Bobby Girl weighs us in in the rain. We just couldn’t get the tent up fast enough. It’s all good

Here ye here ye here ye….
John Wright spanked the field today. Ok just a little, but damn it’s his first win and he did it big today with a gigantic bag totaling 17.87 for 5 fish and a giant largemouth at 6.25. What a toad! How do we say it John, SWEEEETTTT. John caught all his fish by 10:30 in Paugus Bay on top water plugs, and plastics. He caught a total of 6 fish. Nicely done. Congratulations

Congrats to Betty and Alan Denise on the first 2008 Sweetheart T.
Story by Mike McNamara

How wonderful it was to see everyone chatting / laughing / having fun talking about the first tournament of the sweetheart trail. What a wonderful way to start a year with all the sweethearts so excited.

Weather was OK, we got really lucky. Forecast was for some severe weather that we never got, right through the weigh in. A light drizzle just as we were pulling the boats out, but at least the sweethearts didn’t get wet.
