As we complete our final event in the 2010 Sweetheart Trail a huge thank you goes out to our Tournament Directors, Beth and Greg Day for all their hard work and to all those that have joined the trail bringing with them their smiles that have become the trademark of the Sweetheart Trail. A special thank you goes out to Northern Bass for their support and for the continued support from Grizz Baits.  To any out there that are considering being a part of this great trail, don’t hesitate to call Beth and Greg Day at 603-867-3264.

Our final event for 2010 took place on Lake Winnipesaukee with 22 Sweetheart teams arriving for the event.

Denise Allain and Gary Croteau, our northerners, our lady of the lake, (aka Denise Allain) brought the smackdown.  Denise and Gary targeted largemouth all day using Senkos and jigs. Anchoring their five fish limit with a 3.84 largemouth their total bag came in at 13.22.

Coming in second was Dawn and Vincent Czlotti with 13.08.  This team threw the kitchen sink. This team talks to having their limit at 12:30 using Senkos, top eater, spinner baits, the kitchen sink.  Anchoring that second place bag of 13.08, Dawn was proud to announce she was the one that caught their lunker smallmouth at 3.19.  Congrats and well done. I think the photo came out pretty good, it’s a big one.

Taking third Pauline and Mark Miner.  This team targeted largemouth as well.  Their bag of 5 largemouth caught primarily on crank baits, jigs and Senkos came to the scale at 12.23.

Coming in fourth the father / daughter team of Alicia and Bob Snyder. Alicia being the spokesperson for this team shared everything. She threw everything dad had including techniques like swim baiting.  Telling Dad we need to move, so they did lot of running and gunning using crank baits, Carolina rig, you name it, she was using it. Oh and by the way, she claimed she even caught them bare handed. Their limit was had using one of these methods by 10 am in the morning.  Congratulation.  I was so pleased to meet you.  I hope to see you at more events in 2011.

First loser goes off to Betty and Alan Denise (aka ole man).  This sweetheart team targeted both largemouth and smallmouth while cruising the lake. Sara and I got to visit them a couple times throughout the day. Congratulations as always, it’s was a pleasure.

Capturing the lunker largemouth were Colleen and Jeff Daly at 4.82.  That is an impressive largemouth caught on a spinner bait.  Sweet.

Beaming like you can’t even believe was one of our sweetheart couples, soon to be newlyweds. As they jump out of their truck on this beautiful summer morning, the groom is wearing a hat saying “Groom”. Isn’t that funny? Well not as funny as the Bride wearing a hat that says “Bride”.  At the take off the bride has the same hat but with a veil.  Damn cute if you ask me but honestly, as father of the bride, I was happy to see that sparkle in their eyes and just the overall happiness. God Bless. Love you both.

As shared in the early part of the story thanks to those that sponsor our events. Our Northern Bass giveaway for a $25 gift certificate went to Doreen and Jim Ellis.  Again thank you to Grizz Baits, our giveaway went to Alicia and Bob Snyder.  Congratulations again.

As has become customary, there was a great barbeque after the weigh in where the smiles and smackdown continued. Thank you to Beth and Greg for orchestrating this gathering.  Presented with the free entry to our inaugural Sweetheart event in 2011 were Nancy and Doug Henderson. Congratulations.

Thank you to all that have worked and supported the Sweetheart Trail this year.  It could not happen without each one of you.

And as always, see you on the water, casting your dreams.

Here it is.  Another interesting day on Winnipesaukee as 29 crazy fisherman show up to fish in the rain.  For some the bite would be tough, for others, it be a five bite day and then you have our winner Mike Vining crushing the field with a very impressive bag of 5 very large largemouth for a total 16.71.  Anchoring this gigantic bag was a 6.03 largemouth caught on his third or fourth cast of the day using a very very very large black and blue jig.  Mike shared he had his limit early on and worked through the day to cull. Mike also shared that a lot of his morning fish came in quick spurts. Putting a small limit together early on and then of course culling the remainder of the day.  Congratulations Michael, Almost forgot. Mike shared that first limit early on set aside that large large 6.03 largemouth in his live well, he also had smallies.  We didn’t think he had it in him but he told us he wasn’t sure the largemouth bite was going to be what he wanted so bronzebacking he went.

Coming in second place, Steve (aka pizzaman) Graham with 5 largemouths for 13.82. Steve stayed home today, didn’t travel to far out of Paugus but he did venture out for some smallmouth and hooked onto a whopper but unfortunately he couldn’t get it in the book.  Would it have made a difference with the win, he didn’t think so, but it could have made lunker. He still had a great day – he was fishing.  Steve caught 95% of his fish on a jig and the last 5% were caught on a very secret secret Steve Graham bait, but I think it was the secret Steve Graham jig, but it is a secret. Congratulations and have a great weekend on Ossipee with the kids.

Coming in third, Josh Lane with 13.63 with a mixed bag, 2 largemouth and 3 smallies with 2 very impressive smallies, one of those smallies anchoring his bag at 3.32. It held lunker for awhile, but it was just for awhile.  Josh deployed jigs, spinner baits and big crank baits to get his mixed bag.  His limit came late in the day and the kind of day we all hard, as hard a rain as it was, things start to happen in that kind of weather and it happened to Josh as well.  He had a big one on there that snapped him.  Would it have made the difference?? Hard to say, now it is just a fish story.

Coming in fourth Dave Fontone with a very impressive mixed bag, or shall I say almost mixed bag, one largemouth at 4 pounds and 4 smallmouth, a big smallmouth anchoring that bag at 3.45.  Total bag 13.24 catching most of his fish on drop shots and spider grubs.

Taking our coveted first loser pool, Shane Hutchings, another almost mixed bag anchored by the only largemouth in the bag at 5.14 along with some very impressive smallmouth. Shane takes that coveted prize with a total weight of 12.97. Well done.

Lunker smallmouth goes to Jeff Daly at 3.49.  Congratulations and without a doubt and without hesitation, Mike Vining captured lunker largemouth with his 6.03 which certainly anchored that beautiful winning bag.

Thanks to all for coming out in the rain, it was fun it was real.. wet.

Our next and final event is on Squam on October 6.

See you on the water, casting your dreams
