Mike Vining takes a win on Ossipee Midweek
Story by Mike McNamara
View Pictures HereA middle of the road day, the real bad weather held off. The day was pretty wonderful considering we could have all been rained on pretty hard but we weren’t. Thank you to all that came along for the long haul and fun to see the group from the north again, Don, Scott, Travis and Kurt. We had a good turnout for such unsettled weather. Cant wait to be back there on Saturday
Coming in first place Mike Vining with 15.61, all green fish. Mike talked to culling by 9:30. He caught up to about 9 fish using tubes and jigs in 2 – 4 feet of water. Mike also had a nice kicker fish at 4.34. Nice seeing you, hope to see you soon
Second place went to Josh Lane with 15.23, 3 largemouth and 2 smallmouth and one of those smallmouth being the lunker of the day at 4.97. Josh talked to being in a school of smallies first thing in the morning and losing at least two more fish at least as big as his lunker. Looks like that Bubba had a pretty good morning. Josh had his limit at 10 am and never culled. Nothing was big enough.
Coming in third was Steve Graham with 14.58. Caught his limit by 8am - probably had 15 fish throughout the day. His non-boater also talked to having a wonderful day. Steve got his one smallmouth on the top, the rest came on jigs, black, green and green pumpkin. Steve also had a nice kicker fish coming in at 5.20, a nice green fish.
Coming in fourth was Ryan Richardson. Ryan caught all of his fish all day long on Senkos, Senkos and more Senkos. Ryan told us he caught 20 fish and had his limit by 10 am. Scott Leavitt came in fifth place with 13.46. He had his limit by 10 and culled a few more times. Most of his fish were caught on spider grubs and top water. Great Job. See at the team event August 3rd at Ossippee.
Don Mayer was our lunker largemouth winner with a sweet 5.87. Don just missed out on first loser with an 11.12 bag. Don also caught his lunker on a Senko.
Now our first loser, Eric Low with 11.90. Eric caught his fish on spinner baits; a swim bait and he went and did some fun fishing in the junk with a jig.
Our free entry was won by Victor McNary Jr. Our paintball gift certificate went to Brian LeFrancois.
A big thank you goes out to everyone, and I mean everyone, that helped out with all that parking.
