Midweek 10/14/09
Story by Mike McNamara

The final Midweek started right on time…

Cold and Breeeeeeeeeeeeeeeezzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy….. for the 21 players that braved the elements to close off our 2009 season.   Just for the record, this reporter heard of a few SILLY boys making the run across the Broads… Man let me tell you a few of us peaked out and WELL to say it nicely we chickened out…   Toooooo   BREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZYYYYYYYYYYYYYY and COLD….
It was nice to see the change in colors and what a wonderful view it was of  snow covered mountain tops against brilliant fall colors.  It was nice to be the only leaf peepers out there.

It addition to all the wonderful sights,  we also had a moment of America’s Got Talent.  Well it wasn’t pretty to hear 21  guys singing Happy Birthday to the ole man Alan on HIS Sixty second birthday but how wonderful that he got to hang with us.  Again Alan happy happy and congrats on your third place finish in the Northern Bass TOC…   Hey No Steve or Joseph Lucarelli today?Huh Well it was cold.  LOL But we want to say congrats and well done on the win gentlemen.  See you at the shows..

I guess we can call this season’s theme in a nut shell GO BIG OR GO HOME and that is exactly what Mike Vining has been doing straight out of the gate. Going BIG!!  Well done Mike.  As Mike shared,  his day was cold and he only had 6 fish hit his jig all day for his very impressive bag  of 14.03 on a tough day.  WOW stop the presses -  the kid can catch smallfaces toooooooo.   Mike shared at the scale, while a bunch of us looked onto his Four large mouth and one Smallface, he does sometimes catch those silly fish hunting for the Big greenies.   LOL   Well done see you next season and I’m sure in the pay out circle again.

Coming in second and showing the way as the leader for a while,  Josh Lane with 12.22 and anchoring that bag was Lunker Large mouth at 4.27.   Josh has been Mr Contestant all year and does it again with his finish yesterday.  Josh told us he caught the 3 smallies on a crankbait in 12’ of water working long and hard to get that limit by 2 pm and those large mouth both came on a Jig.   Did we hear another theme here?   Jig Go Big or Go Home   Any way Good day and congrats..

Coming in 3rd Me well it wasn’t pretty but as they tell it, it doesn’t have to be pretty as long as its GREEN $$$$$$$$$$

That wonderful and very colorful First Loser pool was taken by Chuck Huston who worked all day for 5 beautiful Greenie.  He caught a few on a Rattlin bait and one on  Top water in the back of a very protected cove.. I did say taken didn’t I 

Well let me just bust ###B@$@L$$$$$$ a little here.  The pain of how YOU see a fish and can’t catch it.  Then to have a player or players catch it right in front of you and doing  the net thing you see it.   WOW it was a big one.  And at the end of the day it wouldn’t have changed a thing because the two guys in First and Second SPANK the field of 21.  That’s fishing SON!!!

Lunker smallface goes off to David Fontone.  David shared the story from hell for all of us.  On his first cast of the day on a Cinnamon Spider jig in 28’ of waters despite all the “thrills” of coolllddd weather fishing, comes his Big fish at 3.68.   Well like I said, it is the  story from hell.  Yep you guessed it.  He casts, and casts and casts and no more bites,  no more sniffs,  nothing all day.  Now that’s a kick in the dink.   As I’m sure David would share the only two good things about that fishing trip was One -  he wasn’t working;  second - he got some $$$$$$$$.   Well done.  LOL

To all, thanks for a Great Season and looking forward to seeing you all at the shows.  Keep a close eye on our web page www.castyourdreams.com  for 2010.  Many Great changes coming and Tourneys for our 2010 Season.

Happy holidays to all and to all a Good Night

Hey casters, Lets not forget that all the fun and enjoyment we share all year long does not just happen without a great deal of effort, planning, and time.  Mikey Mac has once again impressed us all by putting together a well run trail that keeps us all ready and waiting for the next event.  I'm sure I speak for everyone when I say THANK YOU Mr Mac your passion for our sport supports us all, we can't thank you enough for all you bring to the events.  I don't believe there is any other club where every member is ment to feel like a pro and a friend because of your actions. A round of applause is in order here.
